Brewer’s Alley didn’t become the heartbeat of Downtown Frederick’s restaurant scene by accident. As the area’s first brewpub founded in 1996, we’ve spent decades tirelessly refining a multi-level experience that balances our storied history with modern vibrancy. From our wood-fired kitchen to the city’s premier happy hour vibe and rooftop experience, we remain the definitive destination for local craft and elevated hospitality.

Our HistoryThe Many Lives of 124 N. Market

Our name is a tribute to Frederick’s original “Brewer’s Alley,” a fixture of local social and economic life for over 150 years until it was lost to fire in 1901. Nearly a century later, we brought that spirit back to life at 124 North Market Street–a location steeped in its own storied past. Since 1765, this site has served as Frederick’s town hall, a bustling market house, a city jail, and a grand opera house. It has stood witness to the birth of the city and the ransoming of Frederick during the Civil War. Over the centuries, these walls have hosted everything from world-class opera to presidential memorials. Today, we have carefully preserved the elegance of the old Opera House, from hand-etched glass to restored architectural details, ensuring that Brewer’s Alley remains a definitive heartbeat of Frederick history.

Experiencing the best of Frederick shouldn’t be a hassle. We are located just steps away from the Church Street Parking Deck, situated directly behind the restaurant. Additionally, metered street parking is available throughout the surrounding blocks, making it easy to join us for any occasion.
